Rye Cottage

Rye Cottage is in Helmsley town centre. It's a stone cottage but done up inside. It sleeps six people across three bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well finished. There's underfloor heating, a wood burner, and the main living space is open plan with French doors out to the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing a dog. You can bring one dog, by the way.

You can park one car on the drive. Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a Sonos sound system. The bathrooms have TVs in the walls, which is a bit different.

You're right in the middle of things. There's a shop, pubs, and restaurants about fifty yards away. Helmsley has a lot of good places to eat. There's an outdoor swimming pool open in summer, the walled gardens, and the castle ruins to look around.

For walking, the Cleveland Way starts here. It goes past Rievaulx Abbey, which is a few miles out. The North York Moors are on the doorstep. Pickering is about thirteen miles away, where you can get the steam train to Whitby. Whitby and the coast are about an hour's drive. York is about twenty four miles south if you fancy a city day.

If you're looking for days out, these sites are useful: North York Moors National Park, English Heritage for Rievaulx Abbey, and National Trust Yorkshire for places like Nunnington Hall.
