The Cart House
The Cart House is in Helmsley, down a side road off the main street. It's detached. You can walk into the middle of town in a few minutes, but it's quiet back here. There's a gated parking area for one car on a shared gravel drive.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One is an ensuite shower off the main bedroom. One of the twin rooms has zip and link beds, so we can make it up as a king if you tell us beforehand. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The kitchen is big and modern. It has an Aga, plus a separate gas hob and oven. There's underfloor heating in there. The kitchen doors open out to a private courtyard on one side and the garden on the other. Through the kitchen is a utility room with a washing machine and a toilet.
The main living area is open plan with glass doors looking onto the garden. It gets a lot of light. There's a wood burning stove, comfortable sofas, and another large dining table. Outside, there's a separate games room with a football table.
Helmsley is right between the Howardian Hills and the North York Moors National Park. Several long walking routes meet here, like the Cleveland Way. The town has good independent shops and places to eat. Duncombe Park stately home is a short walk away. There's an open air swimming pool, castle ruins, and a walled garden.
You're well placed for days out. The coast at Scarborough, Filey, and Whitby is within about an hour's drive. The historic city of York is also about an hour away.
Facilities wise: all bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher, and the washing machine. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. There's an electric vehicle charger in the parking area. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
