Popleys
Popleys is a terraced cottage in Helmsley. It's a few minutes walk into the town centre. We built it in 2020 so it's new, clean, and everything works. The walls are thick, so it's quiet.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There’s one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are fine, not the steep cottage kind. The garden is enclosed and faces south, so it gets the sun. You can park two cars off the road.
Inside it’s open plan on the ground floor. It feels light and modern. The furniture is good quality, nothing worn out. We've tried to keep it simple and easy to live in.
Helmsley is a nice market town. There are shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs about half a mile away. You can walk to Helmsley Castle and the walled gardens. Rievaulx Abbey is a longer walk, or a very short drive. Duncombe Park is just outside the town, they have gardens and a birds of prey centre.
If you want to drive out, the North York Moors are right there. Pickering is about twenty minutes away. You can get the steam train from there to Whitby if you fancy it. York is less than an hour's drive.
For facilities, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. Sorry, no pets.
For planning days out, the English Heritage and National Trust sites are useful. There are quite a few around here.
