Cruck Cottage is in Wombleton. It's a small, detached stone cottage from the 1700s. It's called a cruck because of the way the big timber frame is built, you'll see it inside. It's been renovated.
It's for two people. One bedroom upstairs, one shower room downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. The bedroom is on a galleried landing above the living area.
Downstairs is all open plan except the shower room. There's a kitchen area, a sofa, and an open fire. The stairs are quite steep, typical for a place this old. The beams are low in places.
Outside there's a small patio with a table and a BBQ. It gets the sun.
There's a 15th century pub in the village, about a five minute walk. They do food and local beer. The nearest proper town is Helmsley, about four miles away. It has shops, cafes, and a brewery.
You're right between the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills. For walks, Rievaulx Abbey is close and really worth seeing. The market town of Malton is about 20 minutes drive, Pickering about 25 minutes. York is around 45 minutes. The coast, like Scarborough, is about 50 minutes by car.
Included: parking, bedding and towels, WiFi, TV, bike storage, and the wood for the fire. No pets.
