Borough Beck Cottage

This is Borough Beck Cottage. It's on the main road into Helmsley, with a little stream called the beck running right past the front. It's a semi-detached stone cottage.

It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. One double, one smaller double, and one single. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. The rating is 4 Star. It's been done up recently, so it's comfortable and clean.

You come in through the living room. There's a wood burner in the big fireplace. The kitchen is off the back, and there's a door out to the garden. The garden gets the sun most of the day. It's on two levels, with patios on each.

Helmsley is a small market town. Everything is a few minutes' walk away: the square, the shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs. The castle and walled garden are just up the road.

You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Good walking straight from the door. Rievaulx Abbey is about two miles away, a nice walk or a very short drive. Sutton Bank and the White Horse are about ten minutes by car.

For a day out, York is about a 45-minute drive. English Heritage and National Trust have a lot of sites around here, like Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall.

Facilities: there's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the cottage isn't, really. There are steep cottage stairs inside.
