This is Mill House. It's a detached cottage in Rievaulx, by the ruins of the abbey. It's a Grade II listed building from 1729, so it's old. That means you get the beams and the character, but also things are a bit uneven. The stairs are normal cottage stairs.
It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a four star rating. The place is clean and well-kept.
The garden is big and fully enclosed, so it's good for dogs and kids. There's a woodburning stove for cold evenings, and an Aga in the kitchen. The Aga is always on, so it keeps the kitchen warm. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've also got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.
You can bring up to two dogs. Parking is on site.
You're right next to the Rievaulx Abbey ruins. You can walk to them from the cottage. It's very quiet. The nearest shop and pub is in Helmsley, which is about two and a half miles away, so a five minute drive. Helmsley has shops, delis, and places to eat. The English Heritage site for the abbey has all the visitor information.
For a day out, you can drive up to the coast. Whitby and Scarborough are both within an hour. York is also about an hour's drive. Closer by, you've got all the walking on the North York Moors. The North York Moors National Park website has good route ideas.
This cottage can be booked with two others nearby if you need more space for a bigger group.
