Mill House
Mill House is a detached cottage in Rievaulx, right next to the Abbey ruins. It's a Grade II listed place from 1729, so it's full of character. That means low beams in some rooms and an original stone staircase. It's not steep, just old and solid.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, so that's handy. The garden is enclosed and a decent size. There's an open fire and an Aga cooker, which keeps the kitchen warm. It has a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You can walk straight out into the fields or to the Abbey. For Rievaulx Abbey itself, the terrace has the best views. The nearest shop and pub are in Helmsley, which is about two and a half miles away.
Helmsley is a five minute drive. It's got good butchers and delis, a few nice pubs, and the Helmsley Walled Garden. There's also a castle.
Within half an hour you can be at the coast. Whitby is about 40 minutes' drive for the beach and the Abbey there. For a bigger day out, York is under an hour. The North York Moors are right on the doorstep for walking.
Facilities: it has WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for two cars on the drive. You can bring two dogs. We provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.
