Todd's Pasture is a farmhouse from the 1600s on the edge of Hawnby village, on the Hawnby Estate. It sits halfway up one side of a valley, surrounded by the North York Moors National Park.
It was a working farmhouse. It's been rebuilt inside but keeps a lot of the old character. It's a 5 Star property, so it's well-equipped and comfortable.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms. Two downstairs, two up. Some beds are zip-and-link so you can have them as twins or super kings. All the towels and bedding are provided.
The entrance to the main house is up a flight of stone steps from the driveway. There's also a level entrance at the back. The heart of the house is the kitchen. It's big, with a vaulted ceiling, beams, an Aga, a wood burner, and a large island. There's a TV in there. The formal dining room is separate. The living room has three large sofas and another wood burner. A table tennis table, darts, and table football are set up in the garage if you need them.
As it's an old building, the layout isn't perfectly flat. There are a couple of steps down from the kitchen to the downstairs bedrooms.
Outside is a flagstone patio and garden with a box hedge. There's also a wood-fired hot tub.
It's a rural spot. The local village pub is about a mile away. Helmsley is eight miles away and has everything you need: shops, cafes, a castle, and good places to eat. The coast and the city of York are both about half an hour's drive. You're right on the edge of the moors for walking.
Other things: it's pet friendly, there's parking, it has a washing machine and dishwasher, and we provide a cot and highchair. WiFi is included. The property has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms.
If you're planning to explore, the National Trust for York, Moor and Coast site is useful.
