Tiggywinkle Cottage is in Hawnby village. It's a detached stone cottage, about two hundred years old. We had it all done up a few years ago.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. The beds are zip-and-link, so you can have them as twins or super kings. They're good mattresses. The ceilings are low in the living area, so watch your head if you're tall.
There's an open plan room downstairs with the kitchen, a table, and sofas around the wood burner. Stone floors. You've got a TV, WiFi, dishwasher, washing machine. Outside, there's a patio with seating and a BBQ.
The village pub is about a five minute walk. It's a proper local. There's a shop about a mile away in Osmotherley.
You're right in the North York Moors here. The door pretty much opens onto the hills. For a day out, Helmsley is about eight miles. It's a nice market town with a castle, some good places to eat, and a swimming pool. The coast at Whitby is about a forty minute drive. York is under an hour.
We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's parking for two cars on the gravel at the front.
If you're planning walks, the North York Moors National Park site has maps. For local history, English Heritage has Helmsley Castle.
