Tiggywinkle Cottage is in Hawnby, a really small village in the North York Moors. It's a detached, stone cottage that's a couple of hundred years old. We had it extended and completely refurbished a few years ago.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. The beds are zip-and-link, so you can have them as twins or a super king. They're comfortable. The ceilings downstairs are low, so if you're tall, you'll need to duck.
It's got a wood burner in the main living area, which is open plan with the kitchen. There's a TV and WiFi. The garden is a paved patio area with seating. You get a good view of the moors from there.
There's a village pub about 500 yards walk. It's a proper local. For a shop, you need to drive about a mile. Helmsley is the nearest town, about eight miles away. It's got everything: shops, cafes, a castle. There are good pubs and restaurants around there too.
You're right in the North York Moors National Park. The walking is the main thing. You can step straight out onto the moors. The coast, like Whitby or Robin Hood's Bay, is about a 30 minute drive. York is under an hour if you fancy a city day.
Facilities wise: there's parking for two cars, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a BBQ. We can provide a cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
