Hurworth

Hurworth is in Cowesby. It’s a small village out in the fields, about a twenty minute drive from Thirsk. The cottage is one of a few on the site, but it’s detached and you get your own garden and parking.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both rooms have their own bathrooms, which is handy. The place has been done up to a high standard. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything works, it’s clean, and it's comfortable. The layout is open plan downstairs.

Because of the open plan and the way it's built, the entrance is level and the ground floor is all on one level. It would suit someone with limited mobility. The upstairs is a different matter: the stairs are quite steep.

Out the back there's a patio with a table and a BBQ. The view is just fields. It’s very quiet.

The nearest pub is about two miles away in Kepwick. The shop is further, about six miles in Thirsk. You’ll want a car.

You’re right on the edge of the North York Moors here. You can walk straight out from the door onto paths. For a proper day out, the market in Thirsk is on Monday and Saturday. The North York Moors National Park site has good walking routes.

Thirsk is about six miles away. It’s a nice market town. The World of James Herriot is there if you’re interested. For a bigger trip, York is under an hour's drive. So are Helmsley and the coast at Whitby. The steam railway at Pickering is about forty minutes.

In the cottage you’ve got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. All the bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets allowed.
