Stable Cottage

Stable Cottage is in South Kilvington. It's a single-storey place, which used to be a stable. It looks out onto its own private garden.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well kept. Because it's all on the ground floor, it's quite accessible. The entrance and the main rooms are level, so it works for a wheelchair.

There's a pub that does food about a three minute walk away. The village shop is a mile away in Thirsk. Thirsk itself is a proper market town. If you know the James Herriot books, the museum is there. It's got a nice square with cafes and shops. The racecourse is there too.

You're right between the Moors and the Dales here. For a big day out, York is about a 40 minute drive. It's got everything: the Minster, the walls, the Shambles. Closer by, you've got Fountains Abbey and Castle Howard within half an hour. The ruins at Rievaulx and Byland Abbey are also nearby if you like history.

Facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site. You can bring one dog.

If you're planning walks or days out, these sites are useful: Yorkshire Dales National Park and North York Moors National Park.
