White Lodge Cottage is in Carlton Miniott, a quiet village. It used to be a coach house, so the ceilings are high and it feels quite spacious. It sleeps eight, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The kitchen and dining area is open plan, with some of the old brickwork still showing. It's a good place for everyone to gather. There's a separate living room too. Both have wood burners, and logs are provided if you ask for them.
The main living room has big glass doors that lead out to the front garden. The doors are set into the old coach arches, so they're a nice feature.
There's a pub and a restaurant about 200 yards from the cottage. The market town of Thirsk is a couple of miles away. It's got a cobbled square, shops, and places to eat. It's also where The World of James Herriot museum is, if you know the books.
You're well placed for exploring from here. The White Horse at Kilburn and Sutton Bank are about four miles away. That's good walking country. The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are both within a 30-minute drive. York is half an hour south.
The cottage has a 5 Star rating, which generally means it's well-finished and maintained. It's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. There's a highchair if you need one. No pets.
