The Old Post Office Rainton

The Old Post Office is right in the middle of Rainton, facing the village green. It’s an old post office, obviously. We’ve done it up to a decent standard.

It’s on three floors. The main sitting room is fine, has Wi-Fi and a telly, and there’s an electric stove in the fireplace if you want a bit of heat. The kitchen’s new and open plan with the dining area. French doors go out to a little courtyard at the back.

It sleeps six across four bedrooms. There are two doubles and two singles. One of the doubles is upstairs on its own floor with a shower room. There’s another family bathroom with a walk-in shower. The stairs are steep in parts.

The pub is literally next door. They do food.

You’re about five miles from Thirsk. It’s a proper market town with shops and a cinema. There’s a World of James Herriot museum there if that’s your thing.

For walks, you’re well placed. The Yorkshire Dales are west, the North York Moors are east. North York Moors National Park is about half an hour’s drive. So is Yorkshire Dales National Park. Places like Sutton Bank or Aysgarth Falls are easy to get to.

The coast at Whitby or Scarborough is about an hour away. York is too, by car or train from Thirsk.

What’s here: a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, bedding and towels, a highchair. The garden is enclosed. No pets.
