Paper Mill Cottage is in Sutton under Whitestonecliffe. It's a barn conversion on the grounds of the main house, which is Tudor. You're detached so it's private. There's a patio that looks over a field, sheep are often in it.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both en-suite. It's got a five star rating, which is more about it being well finished than being huge. It's got slate floors with underfloor heating and a woodburning stove.
The stairs are open-tread and quite steep, a typical barn conversion thing. Something to be aware of.
A pub that does food is about 400 yards up the lane. The closest proper shop is in Thirsk, about four miles away.
You're right at the bottom of Sutton Bank. The North York Moors start there. It's good walking and cycling country. The National Trust site at the top of the bank has great views. There's a gliding club up there too.
Thirsk is ten minutes by car. It's a decent market town with a couple of supermarkets. The James Herriot stuff is there if you're interested.
You can get to a lot of places within half an hour. Rievaulx Abbey ruins, Helmsley for the castle, the White Horse at Kilburn. York is about 45 minutes drive.
The facilities list covers most things. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. No pets sorry.
