Mill Cottage
Mill Cottage is in Rievaulx, just inside the North York Moors. It's an old place, from the 1700s, and it's detached so you won't have neighbours on the other side of the wall.
It sleeps five people. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, with beams and an open fire. The garden faces south so it gets the sun.
The main thing is the view. You look straight out at the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey. It's quite something, especially in the morning. The abbey itself is run by English Heritage and has a tea room.
You're a bit out on your own here. The nearest shop and pub are in Helmsley, about two and a half miles away. It’s a five minute drive. Helmsley has good places to eat and a market. For a bigger day out, you can drive to Pickering for the steam railway. York is about an hour. The coast at Whitby or Scarborough is within 30 to 40 minutes.
For walks, you're right in the North York Moors National Park. You can walk to the abbey ruins from the cottage.
What's here: There's a woodburning stove, a washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on the drive. You can bring two dogs.
You can also book the place next door, Swiss Cottage, or Mill House up the lane, if you've got a bigger group.
