Riccal Heads

Riccal Heads is one of two cottages in a converted barn. It's on the edge of Spaunton, just inside the North York Moors National Park. It sits in a little courtyard. The view out the front is south over Ryedale, just open fields. It's quiet.

It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There's two bathrooms, which is useful. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well finished and everything works as it should. It's not a show home, but it's comfortable.

The dining table is big. If you book the cottage next door as well, you can fit everyone round it. Both places together sleep eight.

The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs and kids. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right there.

Facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.

There's a pub about three quarters of a mile down the lane in Spaunton. The nearest shop is in Hutton-le-Hole, about five miles away, so you'll want to arrive with supplies.

For things to do, you're right in it. You can walk straight out onto the moors from the door. Hutton-le-Hole has the Ryedale Folk Museum. Helmsley is about a twenty minute drive. It's a nice market town with a castle and good shops. The North York Moors National Park site has walking routes.

If you drive for half an hour you can get to lots of places. Pickering has the station for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains. Goathland and Grosmont are on that line. Dalby Forest is great for cycling. The coast at Whitby is just under an hour away. York is about an hour's drive south.
