The Wests

The Wests is one of two cottages here, converted from barns. You're in Spaunton, right in the middle of the North York Moors. The view from the front is south over Ryedale. It's just fields and hills. No one can build in front of it.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well looked after, but it's a cottage in a farmyard, not a hotel.

The other cottage, Riccal Heads, sleeps six. If you book both together, there's a big table that seats ten in Riccal Heads. You can open up the dividing doors between them. That's it if you're a bigger group.

You're about three quarters of a mile from the village pub in Hutton-le-Hole. It's a proper walk, maybe twenty minutes. The shop is in Kirkbymoorside, about five miles by car.

For getting out, you're in the right spot. The Moors are on your doorstep. Hutton-le-Hole has the Ryedale Folk Museum. Helmsley has a castle and good cafes. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway goes from Pickering to Whitby. It's a classic day out. Dalby Forest is good for cycling. If you want the coast, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are about an hour's drive.

The facilities are what you'd need. There's a washing machine, TV, WiFi. The bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if required. You can bring two dogs. There's a garden area that's enclosed, and parking right outside.
