West Wing
This is the West Wing cottage. It's on our small organic farm in Great Edstone, near Helmsley.
It's a two-bedroom place, sleeps four. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. We allow two well-behaved dogs.
The cottage is part of the farmhouse, so it's attached to our home. You have your own enclosed garden patio area.
The heating is a bit different. It's mostly from a wood burner, backed up by solar panels. It works fine, but you do need to be okay with keeping the stove going. We'll show you how.
On the farm, we grow vegetables and soft fruit. You're welcome to buy whatever's in season. There's also a shared indoor swimming pool, a small gym, and a hard tennis court. They're in a separate building a short walk from the cottage.
The farm is quiet. We've got woods with a walking path and you'll see wildlife like deer and hares.
Helmsley is about six miles away for shops and pubs. Pickering is about the same distance, that's where you can get the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train.
The coast is about 45 minutes by car. Whitby and Scarborough are the main ones, or Robin Hood's Bay for the old fishing village.
For days out, National Trust Yorkshire and English Heritage Yorkshire sites are all within easy reach. Castle Howard isn't far. York is about a 45-minute drive.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.
