Bow Cottage

Bow Cottage is on one side of Pickering's village green. It's a stone terrace house, about two hundred years old. You get a small, enclosed garden at the back.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable. It's old, so mind your head on the beams upstairs. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, narrow at the top.

The green is nice to look at. There are shops, a couple of restaurants, and pubs about a fifty-yard walk away. You don't need to drive for basics.

For getting out, you're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Good walking from the door. Dalby Forest is about fifteen minutes by car for cycling or walking. They sometimes have music events.

The coast is within half an hour. Scarborough has the usual seafront things. Whitby is a bit further, maybe forty minutes, but it's a proper fishing town with the Abbey. Robin Hood's Bay is similar, very steep.

Inside, it's got what you'd need: WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding is included. There's parking for one car on the street outside. No pets, I'm afraid.

If you're planning, the English Heritage and National Trust Yorkshire sites are useful for days out.
