Squirrel Cottage
Squirrel Cottage is on a quiet lane in Thornton le Dale. It's semi-detached. The lane is proper quiet, you won't get passing traffic.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. We take one well-behaved dog. It's a 3 Star place. That means it's clean and has what you need, but it's not a show home. It's from 1890, so the doors are a bit low in places. Mind your head.
You're about a three minute walk from the village centre. There's a duck pond, a stream, and a play park for kids. You've got a couple of pubs that do food, tea rooms, a shop, and takeaways. It's all right there.
For getting out, you can walk onto the moors from the door. Dalby Forest is about ten minutes by car for cycling. Pickering is three miles away, you can get the steam train from there. North York Moors National Park has all the walking routes.
Helmsley is a fifteen minute drive, nice for the castle and the walled garden. York is about forty minutes if you fancy a city day. The coast is a bit further, maybe forty five minutes to Scarborough or Whitby.
In the cottage you've got a woodburner, a dishwasher, washing machine, a TV, and WiFi. There's a patio and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair.
