Forge Gardens
Forge Gardens is in Thornton le Dale. It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level, which is handy. You can get to it off the main street over a little stone bridge. The plot is basically an island, with the village stream running around three sides.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. The garden is the main thing. It's a good size, mostly lawn, and it runs right alongside the water. You can hear it from the house. There's a wood burner in the living room for cooler evenings.
The village has a couple of pubs and some shops about a minute's walk away. The North York Moors National Park starts pretty much at the end of the road. Dalby Forest is about ten minutes by car for walking or mountain biking.
Pickering is three miles. There's a market on Mondays and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains. The coast is about half an hour's drive. Scarborough, Filey, and Whitby are all within that. York is an hour away.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, parking for one car on the drive, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. It's rated 4 Star. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed.
