Flo's Place

Flo's Place is in Pickering, a few minutes walk from the high street. It's a semi-detached house on a quiet cul-de-sac. It sleeps five, in three bedrooms, with one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star, which reflects that it's been freshly decorated and is well looked after.

The layout is straightforward. You come in through the hall into the living room. That opens into a dining area with patio doors out to the garden. The kitchen is off the dining room. There's a downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are the three bedrooms and the family bathroom.

The garden faces east, so it gets the morning sun. It's enclosed and looks out over fields at the back. There's off-road parking on the drive and a lockable shed for bikes.

Pickering itself is a proper market town. There's a market on Mondays. You've got cafes, shops, and a few pubs all within walking distance. The castle ruins are worth a look. The main attraction for a lot of people is the steam railway. It runs from Pickering up to Whitby on the coast. It's a good day out. They do a Christmas special in December, and the town has a War Weekend where everyone dresses up.

For getting out, you're right on the edge of the North York Moors. Good walking country. Dalby Forest is about a 15 minute drive, with walking and cycling trails. Malton is 20 minutes away, known for its food shops and a monthly food market. Castle Howard is about half an hour by car. The coast at Scarborough is about 18 miles, so roughly 40 minutes depending on traffic. Flamingo Land theme park is just outside Pickering, maybe a 10 minute drive.

What's here: Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, all bedding and towels are included. There's parking on the drive. No pets, sorry.

Useful links for planning: North York Moors National Park and the National Railway Museum for information on the steam railway.
