Forge View Cottage
Forge View Cottage is in Thornton le Dale, right at the foot of the North York Moors. It's a proper old cottage, used to be the village tailor's shop back in the 1700s. You get your own bit of a courtyard out the back.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's just the one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. They've kept the old fireplaces and beams, so mind your head in a couple of places. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep.
The village is quiet and nice. There's a little stream that runs past the front. You've got two pubs that do food within a hundred yards, a fish and chip shop, and a place that does pizzas. The shop is just there as well.
You're right on the edge of Dalby Forest. Good for walking or if you want to hire bikes. The North York Moors National Park starts pretty much from the door.
Pickering is a couple of miles away. That's where you get the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains. Whitby is about 20 miles, Scarborough about 15. York is half an hour or so in the car.
For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a woodburning stove, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
