Forge View Cottage is in Thornton le Dale. It's a terraced cottage right on the village beck. You get a walled courtyard garden at the back. The building was a tailor's shop a long time ago.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are original, so they're a bit steep and narrow.
Everything you need is close. There are two pubs that serve food, a fish and chip shop, and a pizza place all within a few minutes' walk. The village has thatched cottages and a duck pond. It's quiet.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Dalby Forest is practically on the doorstep. You can walk or cycle straight into it. They have a visitor centre, walking trails, and bike hire there.
Pickering is two miles away. That's where you get the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train. It goes through the moors to Whitby.
For a day out, Whitby is about 20 miles. It's a proper fishing port with a harbour and the Abbey. Scarborough is 15 miles for the beach and castle. York is 26 miles if you want a city day for the Minster or the railway museum.
Facilities: there's a woodburning stove, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. Parking is on site. You can bring up to two dogs.
