Hudson Cottage is in Newton on Rawcliffe, North Yorkshire. It's a semi-detached stone cottage built for railway workers, so it's got a bit of character. You get two bedrooms, a bathroom, and an ensuite shower room. It sleeps four. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable.
The garden is enclosed, with a patio and seating. There's a tuck shop on site where you can buy sweets, drinks, and disposable barbecues. The owners run it. Inside, there's a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen has what you need. The stairs are normal, not too steep. There are beams and stone walls, so it feels like an old cottage.
Trains still run on the line behind the cottage. They're heritage steam trains, heading to Whitby. You hear them, but it's not constant. Some people really like it.
The North York Moors National Park is right there. Levisham village is about a mile away, and it has a good pub. For the coast, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, and Scarborough are about a 30-minute drive. You can catch the steam train from Levisham station to see the moors.
Dalby Forest is nearby for cycling or walking. Flamingoland theme park is less than 20 minutes away by car. York is about an hour's drive if you want a day in the city.
Facilities: parking, WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels included. A cot and highchair are there if needed. We take one well-behaved dog.
