Derwent Cottage is in Everley, right on the edge of the North York Moors. It's a terraced stone cottage, about two hundred years old. It's next to our house but it's completely separate. The renovation was done to a good standard, so it's got everything you need but it's still a proper cottage.
It sleeps three people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The stairs are steep, like most old cottages.
Out the back there's an enclosed garden. It's got a patio area and a bit of lawn. It's fully fenced, so it's safe for a dog or kids. You can park right outside.
You're in a hamlet, so it's quiet. The nearest pub and shop are about four miles away in Hackness. The coast at Scarborough is about a twenty minute drive.
If you like walking or cycling, you can just step out the door. You're on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. Dalby Forest is very close, about ten minutes by car. They've got all the mountain bike trails there, from easy to the serious World Cup ones. It's good for walks too.
Scarborough, Filey, Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby are all within about half an hour's drive. For a proper day at the beach, we usually go to Filey or Robin Hood's Bay. Whitby is good for fish and chips and the Abbey.
Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and there's a stairgate. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
