Bartlett's Barn

This is Bartlett's Barn, up near Lind Head. The address makes it sound remote but it's not far from the coast. It's one of a few converted farm buildings on site. You'll see the others. They're all separate.

It sleeps five people in two bedrooms. One twin room downstairs, next to a shower room. Upstairs is a big room with a double bed and a single bed under the sloping ceiling. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything's included and works, it's just not a luxury finish.

Downstairs is all open plan: kitchen, dining, living area. The ceiling is high with some old beams. If you're tall, mind your head on some of the door frames, that's just how these old buildings are.

The reason people like it here is the shared facilities. There's a heated swimming pool you can book slots for. It's indoors and kept warm. There's a sauna next to it, which costs a bit extra. Outside, there's a BBQ area with picnic benches and a view over the fields. You often see deer in the woods opposite. There's also a games room with a pool table and table tennis.

The barn is a couple of miles from Cloughton village. It's quiet. The village has two pubs that do food. For the coast, you want Hayburn Wyke. It's a short woodland walk down to a little waterfall that goes onto the beach. There's an old pub there too.

You're on the edge of the North York Moors. The North York Moors National Park site has walking routes. The Cleveland Way path and the Cinder Track are right by you for walks to Robin Hood's Bay or Whitby. Dalby Forest is nearby for cycling.

South about 30 minutes is Scarborough. It's got the usual seafront things, plus the Alpamare water park. Inland the same sort of time is Flamingo Land theme park.

Practical things: bedding and towels are in, there's parking, Wi-Fi, a washing machine, a cot and a highchair. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
