Lodge Cottage

Lodge Cottage is one of fifteen cottages at Scalby Lodge. They're owned by the Duchy of Lancaster. The setting is on the cliffs just outside Scarborough.

It's detached, sleeps four, and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well looked after. It's open plan inside. There's a wood burning stove and the garden is enclosed.

You can bring one dog. There's on-site parking and an electric vehicle charger. Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

The location is the main thing. You're on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and right by the coast path. The Cleveland Way footpath is right there for walking. Scarborough itself is a few minutes' drive. It's a proper seaside town with two beaches, North Bay and South Bay, and the castle. There's a local pub within walking distance.

If you drive for about half an hour north, you get to Whitby. It's good for fish and chips and the Dracula connection. You can get the steam train from there onto the moors. Heading south, Filey Brigg is worth a visit. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is about 25 minutes away if you like seabirds.
