Sea Dog Cottage
Sea Dog Cottage is in Scarborough, a few streets back from South Bay. It's a cottage over three floors. The living room is downstairs, it's cosy. Fits four people fine, but it might feel tight for six because the dining table is snug. The kitchen is separate and leads out to a shared courtyard. There's a table and chairs out there.
It sleeps four, in three double bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The stairs are steep. It's a listed building, so that's how they are.
You're a few minutes' walk from the beach. South Bay is lively, North Bay is quieter. You can walk the promenade between them. The castle is right there on the headland. The local facilities list says wheelchair accessible entrance, but do check with me directly about that, as the internal stairs are definitely not.
Peasholm Park is nice for a stroll. They've got boats on the lake. There are two theatres, the Stephen Joseph and the open air one.
The Alpamare waterpark is about a ten minute drive away, maybe less. It's got indoor and outdoor pools, slides, that sort of thing.
We take dogs. Two is the limit. There's a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. Parking is on-street.
For planning trips, the North York Moors National Park website is useful. You can be on the moors in under half an hour. Filey and Robin Hood's Bay are also within about thirty minutes by car.
