Pilchard Cottage is in Scarborough, on the south side. It's a renovated terrace house, about five minutes walk from the beach on South Bay.
It sleeps six, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The renovation was finished in 2022, so things like the kitchen and bathrooms are new. It's over three floors. The stairs are typical for a house like this, so they're fairly steep.
You can bring one dog. There's a small enclosed patio out the back with a table and chairs. It gets the sun in the afternoon.
Inside, the main thing is the kitchen with a large range cooker. The dining table is in a raised area next to it. The living room has a multi-fuel stove. One of the bedrooms has the old house stairs still in it, now just used as shelves. It's a quirk from the renovation.
For the area, you're very close to the South Bay beach and the promenade. You can walk from there along to the North Bay. The castle is up on the headland. There are restaurants and the funfair along the seafront. Peasholm Park is nice, with boats on the lake.
Within about half an hour's drive you've got places like Filey, Robin Hood's Bay, and Whitby. The North York Moors National Park is inland. For birdwatching, the RSPB Bempton Cliffs reserve is along the coast.
Included in the stay: all bedding and towels, WiFi, a washing machine, a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's parking for one car on the street outside.
