Pilchard Cottage
This is Pilchard Cottage in Scarborough. It's on Princess Street in the old town, about a five minute walk down to the South Bay beach.
The house sleeps six, but it has four bedrooms. Two are doubles, one is a twin, and the fourth is a single room. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath. It's got a 4 Star rating. The layout is over three floors, which is quite common for these old town houses.
There are some original features, like the old stairs in the back bedroom that were sealed off and are now used as shelves. The stairs themselves are steep and a bit narrow, as you'd expect. The kitchen has a large range cooker. There's a wood burning stove in the front room. At the back there's an enclosed patio with some seating.
You're right in the old town, so it's a short walk to the seafront, the castle, and plenty of restaurants. The South Bay has the fairground and is busier. The North Bay, which you can walk to along the promenade, is a bit quieter. Scarborough Castle is a good visit. The North York Moors National Park starts not far inland.
Within about half an hour's drive you've got Whitby, Filey, and Robin Hood's Bay. The RSPB Bempton Cliffs reserve is about 25 minutes away.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. The parking is on-street, usually available nearby but not guaranteed right outside.
