Rose Cottage is one of a few holiday cottages on a site just outside Scalby village. It's about three miles from Scarborough town centre.
The cottage sleeps five. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's not a huge place, but it's been done up nicely.
The garden at the back is enclosed, which is good if you've got kids or a dog. There's a patio with furniture. The view from the front looks over fields towards the sea and Scarborough Castle. You can see the castle from the upstairs windows.
Scalby village is about a fifteen minute walk. It's got a couple of pubs, a shop, and a café. For a bigger shop, you'd drive into Scarborough.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors. The Forge Valley woodland walk starts about half a mile away. For a proper hike, you can pick up the Cleveland Way footpath. It's a good base for that. North York Moors National Park has all the maps and info.
In Scarborough, there's the Sea Life centre, the harbour, and the usual seaside stuff. The beach is sandy. Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are about half an hour's drive up the coast. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is over that way too.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and bedding is included. You can have a BBQ. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
