Princess Lodge

Princess Lodge is in the old part of Scarborough, maybe a two minute walk from the beach. It’s a tall, old house that used to be a chemist’s shop on the ground floor a long time ago. It sleeps ten people, in five bedrooms, and there are three bathrooms.

It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and well-equipped. Because it’s an old listed building, the stairs are a bit steeper and narrower than in a modern house. Something to be aware of.

You’re right on the hillside here, so some of the streets are quite steep. The views from the top floors are good though. There’s a shop about 200 yards away, and a pub even closer. The beach is just down the hill.

The old town is interesting to wander around. The main town centre and the high street are about a five minute walk. There are two beaches, South Bay and North Bay, and a long promenade.

Peasholm Park is nice, especially with kids. They have pedal boats on the lake. In the summer, the Open Air Theatre gets big acts. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the house.

You can drive to Filey, Whitby or Bridlington in under half an hour. The North York Moors are close by for walking. York is about an hour's drive, or you can get the train from Scarborough station.

Facilities: it’s got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
