This is Troutbeck Cottage, one of fifteen cottages on the Scalby Lodge estate near Scarborough. The estate is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster. The cottage looks out over the fields towards the sea.
It's for two people. There's one bedroom and one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating. The fittings are good quality, it's well kept, and kept clean. Everything is on one level.
You get the basics: a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside, and you can charge an electric car. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
There's a shared garden area with a kids' play space and a BBQ. The Cleveland Way path runs along the cliffs nearby, so you can walk straight from the door. For a proper beach, you need to go into Scarborough. It's not far.
Scarborough is about ten minutes away by car. It has two main beaches, North Bay and South Bay, and a castle. The Open Air Theatre is there. For birdwatching, RSPB Bempton Cliffs is a short drive up the coast.
Heading north, Whitby is about half an hour's drive. You can get the steam train from there into the North York Moors. York is a bit over an hour away.
