May Cottage is on a farm at Lind Head, near Cloughton. It's about two miles inland from the coast. The cottage itself is one of a group of converted farm buildings.
It sleeps two, in one bedroom with twin beds. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's all on one level, so no stairs to worry about. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable but not posh. The ceilings are beamed, which is nice, but watch your head if you're tall.
You get your own little patio area. The real draw is the shared facilities on the farm. There's an indoor swimming pool kept at 28 degrees, which you can use. There's a sauna too, but that costs extra. There's a games room with a pool table and table tennis, and a BBQ area with picnic benches. We get deer in the fields around the place quite often.
Cloughton village is a couple of miles away. It's quiet, but it has two pubs that do food. The nearest bit of coast is at Hayburn Wyke. It's a woodland walk down to a waterfall that goes over the cliff into a little cove. There's an old coaching inn there as well.
For walking, the Cleveland Way and the Cinder Track are right nearby. You can walk to Ravenscar or Robin Hood's Bay from here. Whitby is about a 20-minute drive. The North York Moors National Park starts not far away, and Dalby Forest is good for cycling.
In terms of what's there: bed linen and towels are included. There's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and parking right outside. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
