Blue Mountain Barn
Blue Mountain Barn is in Scalby, just outside Scarborough really. It's a detached, single-storey place that used to be a field barn. You're on your own out there, totally private. The main thing is the view. You look right out over the fields to the sea and you can see Scarborough Castle.
It's been done up to a high standard but they've kept the original oak beams, so it feels like a barn. It sleeps four in two bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom which is handy. The rating is 4 Star, which in this case means it's a bit more on the comfortable, luxury side of things.
Because it's all on one level, there are no stairs to worry about. Everything is open plan inside. You get a dishwasher and a washing machine, all your bedding and towels, and there's parking right there.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. For walking or cycling, you can just head straight out from the door. The coast path and beaches are a short drive away. A local shop and a pub are about a mile down the road in the village.
Scarborough itself is a few minutes in the car. You've got the castle, the two bays, and all the usual seaside things. Further along the coast, places like Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are within half an hour. Filey is a bit closer.
It says you can bring up to two pets. There's a cot available if you need one. The garden is a patio area, good for sitting out with that view.
