Mulgrave Cottage

Mulgrave Cottage is one of fifteen cottages on an estate near Scalby, just north of Scarborough. The estate is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster, so technically it's the King's, but it's just a normal cottage to rent.

It's a bungalow, so everything is on one level. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. It sleeps four. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well put together and comfortable.

The layout is open-plan, with the living, dining, and kitchen areas all together. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. You get an enclosed garden with a patio and a BBQ. Parking is right outside.

For facilities, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. There's also an electric vehicle charger on site.

The estate is on the clifftop, so you've got direct access to the coast path from the grounds. It's a good starting point for walking the Cleveland Way. Scarborough town centre is about ten minutes away by car. It has two main beaches, North Bay and South Bay, the castle, and plenty of shops and places to eat. The North York Moors National Park begins just inland.

If you drive for about half an hour north, you get to Whitby. It's an interesting old port town. From there, you can get the North York Moors Railway steam train. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is also within a 30-minute drive.

There's a local pub within walking distance. Because it's a group of cottages, there's a shared kids' play area on the estate.

No pets allowed, I'm afraid.
