Swallow's Folly

Swallow's Folly is a converted stone farm building up at Lind Head. It's in a small group of cottages, but feels quite separate. You get your own bit of garden. The swallows nest by the front door every summer, which is nice but means there's sometimes a bit of mess on the step.

It's for two people. One double bedroom and a shower room, both downstairs. The living room is upstairs. That's a bit unusual, but it means you get the views from up there. The stairs are standard cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep and narrow. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything works, it's clean and warm, but it's not posh.

On site, there's a shared swimming pool. It's kept warm. There's also a sauna you can book for a small fee. Next to that is a BBQ area with picnic benches. There's a games room in another building with a pool table and table tennis. You might see deer around the fields.

The village of Cloughton is about two miles away. It's quiet. There are two pubs there that do food. The nearest bit of coast is at Hayburn Wyke. It's a woodland walk down to a small beach with a waterfall. There's a pub there too, an old coaching inn.

You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Good walking from the door, including the Cleveland Way. Robin Hood's Bay and Ravenscar are along the coast. Whitby is about a 25 minute drive. Dalby Forest is about half an hour inland for cycling.

In terms of what's there: towels and bedding are included, there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking. One well-behaved dog is allowed. The entrance and ground floor are step-free.
