Harrowby Cottage is one of fifteen cottages on the Scalby Lodge estate, near Scarborough. The estate is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster. It's a bungalow, so everything is on one level. That's good if stairs are a problem.
It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star. That means it's well looked after. There's a wood burning stove, which is nice in the evenings. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for a dog. You can bring one pet.
The cottage is on the clifftop. You can walk straight onto the Cleveland Way coastal path from here. The view is mostly over fields, but you can see the sea from parts of the estate.
Scalby village is about a ten minute walk. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there. The walk is along a road, so be careful with children.
Scarborough is very close. It's a proper seaside town. Two sandy beaches, North Bay and South Bay. The castle is up on the headland. There's also the Open Air Theatre, which gets big names in the summer.
Within half an hour you can drive to Filey, or north to Whitby. Whitby has the Abbey and the Dracula connection. The North York Moors Railway steam trains go from there into the national park. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is about a forty minute drive. It's famous for its puffins and seabirds.
For facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on site. There's also an electric vehicle charger.
