The Anchor is a cottage in Scarborough Old Town, just down the hill from the castle. It was built in 1712. We've done it up, but kept things like the beams. Some of the wood inside came from old ships.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bathroom is an ensuite. There's a small games room with a table and a massage chair. The stairs are typical for a place this age. They're fine, but watch your head on the landing.
You can have one well-behaved dog. The back has a small, enclosed courtyard with seating.
It's about a four minute walk down to South Bay beach. The shops, pubs and the market hall are a five minute walk. The castle is right there. You can walk to North Bay along the cliffs, which is part of the Cleveland Way.
Scarborough has the Stephen Joseph Theatre and the open-air theatre. For a day out, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are about half an hour north. Filey is to the south. The RSPB at Bempton Cliffs is a short drive. York is about an hour away by car or you can get the train.
The house has a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included.
