The Anchor is on Castle Road in Scarborough's Old Town. It's a cottage from 1712, right below the castle walls. It's been renovated, so it's comfortable, but you'll see the old beams and ship timbers in the walls. It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, so everything is in good order.
The stairs are steep. It's that kind of cottage. Two bedrooms are on the first floor, and there's another twin room up on the second floor. That one has an en-suite shower room and a separate games room with a massage chair. The kitchen is new and has everything you'd need. There's a small enclosed courtyard out the back with seating.
It's about a four minute walk down the hill to the South Bay beach. You can walk to pubs, restaurants, and the castle quite easily. The open-air theatre and the Stephen Joseph Theatre are both nearby if you want a show. For a long walk, the Cleveland Way starts on the cliff top. It goes all the way to Filey.
If you're driving out, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are about half an hour north. Filey and Flamborough Head are to the south. The RSPB at Bempton Cliffs is close too, good for seeing puffins in spring. York is about an hour away by car, or you can get the direct train from Scarborough.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's on-street parking, which usually isn't a problem, but it's not a private driveway.
