Lavender Cottage

Lavender Cottage is part of a small group of cottages on the edge of Scalby, which is just north of Scarborough. It's about a three mile drive into Scarborough itself. The view from the front is over fields towards the sea. You can see Scarborough Castle from the garden.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, which is handy. There's a third toilet downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-finished and comfortable. The garden is enclosed with a patio and a barbecue. Parking is right outside.

You can walk into Scalby village in about fifteen minutes. There's a couple of pubs, a shop, and a café there. For a bigger shop, you'd drive into Scarborough.

The location is the main thing. You're right beside the North York Moors National Park. A lane leads straight out onto the moors for walking. The Cleveland Way long distance path is close by. If you go the other way, you're at the coast in a few minutes. The beach at Scarborough is sandy and long.

Scarborough has the usual seaside things: Sea Life, amusement arcades, boat trips from the harbour. For a different day out, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Pickering. Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are about a half hour drive up the coast. Both are worth a visit.

The cottage lets one well-behaved dog. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. It's wheelchair accessible at the entrance and on the ground floor.
