The Cart Shed is part of Scalby Lodge, up on the cliffs near Scarborough. It's one of fifteen cottages here. The whole place belongs to the Duchy of Lancaster, which is the King's estate. It sounds grand, but it just means the grounds are well kept.
It sleeps eight people. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so that helps with the morning queue. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-finished, but it's not a palace. It's a holiday cottage.
You've got your own enclosed garden with a patio and a barbecue. There's parking right outside, and an electric vehicle charger if you need it. Inside, there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and the bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
The location is the main thing. You're right on the edge of the cliffs. You can walk straight out onto the Cleveland Way coastal path. Scarborough itself is about ten minutes in the car. It's a proper seaside town with two beaches, a castle, and all the usual stuff.
If you drive for half an hour, you can get to Whitby. It's got the abbey and the Dracula connection. The North York Moors Railway starts there too. The North York Moors National Park starts just inland from here. York is about an hour's drive.
On site, there's a kids' play area and a local pub. The pub is handy.
