Stepping Gate Cottage is on our farm in Scalby, just outside Scarborough. It's a single-storey barn conversion, so everything's on one level. It's attached to our farmhouse, but you've got your own door and patio. We live here too, but we're often out on the farm. If you need anything, you can give us a shout.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable. It's open plan inside. You get a washing machine, bedding and towels are included, and there's parking right outside.
The location is quiet. It's down a farm track. I should say, it's a proper working farm track with potholes. We fill them in when we can, but the weather doesn't help. A normal car is fine, just take it slow. You'll see farm vehicles using it.
Because it's rural, you get dark skies at night. We see deer, barn owls, and buzzards around.
For getting out, there's a hotel at the end of our drive and a bistro opposite. The village of Scalby is about a mile's walk. They've got two pubs, a café, and a shop. The coast is three miles away.
Scarborough is close. Filey, Robin Hood's Bay, and Whitby are all within a half hour drive. The farm is right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, so walking is straight from the door.
One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's a garden area with a BBQ.
