Castle View
This is Castle View. It's one of the cottages at Scalby Lodge, which is up on the cliffs near Scarborough. We're a collection of cottages, so you'll see other guests around, but your cottage and garden are your own.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, so it's good for families or a group. It's got a 4 Star rating, so everything is in good order. Being a bungalow, it's all on one level which is handy.
You're about a ten minute drive from Scarborough itself. North Bay and South Bay are the two main beaches there. The castle is up on the headland. It's a proper seaside town with the usual shops, arcades, and places to eat. The Open Air Theatre is there, they get big names sometimes.
The best thing is the location for walks. The Cleveland Way footpath runs right past the edge of the site. You can walk south into Scarborough along the cliffs, or north towards Hayburn Wyke. It's very direct.
Within half an hour you can drive up to Whitby. It's a different feel, more gothic with the abbey and the Dracula connection. The North York Moors Railway starts from there if you fancy a steam train trip. Heading inland, you're quickly into the North York Moors National Park for driving or walking.
For facilities: you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The garden is enclosed with a patio and a BBQ. Parking is on site, and there's an electric vehicle charger. We can take up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included, and we have a cot and highchair if you need them.
