Lantern Cottage

Lantern Cottage is a converted barn in Staintondale, on the North Yorkshire coast. It’s just for two people, one bedroom and one bathroom. It’s detached, so you’re on your own. The views are the main thing. You can see the coast from Scarborough all the way down to Flamborough Head from the garden.

It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it’s comfortable and well-finished. It has underfloor heating and a wood burner. The bed is king size. The bathroom has a spa bath. The living area is open plan with a proper kitchen. There’s a window seat to look at the sea.

The garden is private. It has a hot tub, a dining area, and a patio. They all face the sea view. You’re about 100 yards back from the cliff edge. It’s very quiet. You’ll see a lot of wildlife, like deer and birds of prey.

The location is rural. You’ll need a car. You’re in the North York Moors National Park and on the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. There are footpaths from the doorstep leading to the cliffs or inland.

Ravenscar village is close by. It’s known for seal colonies on the beach and for stargazing, as there’s little light pollution. Robin Hood’s Bay is about three miles along the coast path, or a short drive. It’s a nice spot. Scarborough is about seven miles south, Whitby is about nine miles north. Both have all the usual shops and things.

Facilities included: parking, wifi, TV, a washing machine, a dishwasher, bedding and towels. No pets.
