This is Rudda Farm House. It’s in Staintondale, which is a small village between Whitby and Scarborough.
It’s a semi-detached farm cottage that sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. You can bring two dogs.
The kitchen has a traditional Rayburn oven, so you need to know how to use one. It keeps the place warm too. There’s a multi-fuel burner in the living room. The views from there are good, straight out over the fields.
You’ve got an enclosed garden at the front and a little patio out the back. It gets the sun. There’s a games room and bike storage.
The stairs are typical for a place like this, a bit steeper than modern ones.
You’re right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. You can walk or cycle straight from the door. The coast path is about a mile and a half away.
There’s a pub that does food about a mile down the road. The nearest shop is in Ravenscar, about five miles. For a big supermarket, you’d go into Scarborough.
Whitby is about nine miles north. It’s busy, good for fish and chips, and there’s a lot going on. Scarborough is seven miles south, more of a classic seaside town with an open-air theatre. Robin Hood’s Bay is closer, maybe ten minutes by car. Good for fossils.
For a full day out, York is about an hour’s drive.
Facilities are fairly standard: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them.
