The Retreat is a dormer bungalow in Hunmanby. It's semi-detached, in a quiet street. You get the whole place and the garden to yourselves. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs or kids.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of them has a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well kitted out. Being a bungalow, most rooms are on one level, but there are a couple of bedrooms upstairs. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow, just so you know.
There's a shop and a couple of pubs about five minutes walk away. You don't need the car for basics. The beach at Primrose Valley, near Filey, is about a ten minute drive. Filey itself is a quiet sort of place. It's got a very long, sandy beach.
If you want to walk, the Yorkshire Wolds are right on the doorstep. The Wolds Way path runs close by. For birdwatching, the RSPB cliffs at Bempton are about a ten minute drive north. You can see puffins and gannets there in season.
Scarborough is about twenty minutes south by car. Whitby is maybe forty minutes north. You can get on the North York Moors from there. The steam railway from Pickering to Whitby is a good day out. York is roughly an hour's drive, maybe a bit more depending on traffic.
In terms of what's there: it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, and parking for a couple of cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. The conservatory looks out over the garden. You can bring up to two dogs.
