The Chalet
The Chalet is in Hunmanby Gap, just south of Filey. It's a detached bungalow right at the bottom of the low cliff, so you're basically on the beach. It's one of four places we own up here.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one is a double and the other has bunk beds. One shower room. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable but not fancy. Everything's on one level.
The living room is open plan. The kitchen is a galley style along one wall. The main thing is the view. The windows look straight out over Filey Bay. You can see the sea from the sofa. There's an electric stove that looks like a wood burner for cooler evenings.
Outside, there's a small enclosed patio with a table and chairs. It's a sun trap in the morning. The beach is about thirty seconds' walk through the gate. The sand is great for kids and dogs.
There's a little café next to the other cottages, about a minute's walk away. They do good coffee and cakes. For a proper shop, you need Filey or Scarborough.
Filey is about ten minutes by car. It's a traditional seaside town with a long beach and a coble landing. Scarborough is twenty minutes. It's bigger, with the castle, the harbour, and more shops.
If you like walking, the Cleveland Way coastal path runs right past. For birdwatchers, RSPB Bempton Cliffs is about fifteen minutes away. The Yorkshire Wolds are inland if you fancy a change from the coast.
Facilities: there's a TV, parking, and towels and bedding are included. The place is all-electric. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
