Tigh Na Mara
Tigh Na Mara is in Hunmanby Gap, on the coast between Filey and Scarborough. It's a detached cottage, one of four we own here. The name means 'house by the sea', and that's exactly what it is.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. Two bedrooms are downstairs, a twin and a double. There's also a bathroom on that floor. Upstairs is the main double bedroom with its own ensuite. The stairs to get up there are glass-panelled, which is nice and bright, but they are quite steep. The doorway into the upstairs ensuite is low, so taller people will need to mind their head.
The main living room and the kitchen both look straight out to sea. The view is the main thing. There's a sun room off the kitchen with more chairs to sit and look at it. The garden at the back is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs and kids. There's a little balcony off the upstairs bedroom you can step out onto.
The beach is a short walk down the hill. There's a dog-friendly café down there too. Filey is about five minutes drive south, Scarborough about ten minutes north. Both have the usual seaside things: promenades, fish and chips, shops.
For a good day out, the RSPB Bempton Cliffs are very close. It's great for watching seabirds. The North York Moors are about half an hour's drive inland if you fancy a change from the coast.
Facilities-wise: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking for two cars. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot available if you need one.
It has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, with that view. That's really what you're booking it for.
