The Owls Nest is in Scaling, North Yorkshire. It's set back on a big farm site, sharing seven acres of gardens, woodland, and a field with a few other cottages. The view from your garden bit is over a huge communal lawn. It's quiet.
It's a newly done-up cottage for 2024. Sleeps four. Two bedrooms: one double on the ground floor, one kingsize upstairs. One shower room, also on the ground floor. The living area is all open plan. Kitchen, table, sofa. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-finished.
You can bring dogs, up to three. We ask that they stay downstairs, not in the bedrooms. There's a patio area with your own furniture, and the big shared lawn and woods to use.
Stuff that's included: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, bedding and towels. Parking right outside.
The site is good for getting out. Scaling Dam reservoir is five minutes by car. You can windsurf or paddleboard there. There's a big pub there too, with a play area and mini golf.
The coast is about six miles. Staithes, Runswick Bay, Whitby are all within a fifteen to twenty minute drive. The North York Moors National Park starts on your doorstep. Good walking. The heritage steam train from Pickering to Whitby is worth a trip if you like that sort of thing.
Useful links for planning: North York Moors National Park and for the coast, Cleveland Way National Trail.
There are other cottages here at Clay Hall Farm. This one can be booked with the one next door if you're a bigger group.
