The Deer Den
The Deer Den is a cottage in Scaling, North Yorkshire. It's one of three here at Clay Hall Farm. It's newly done up for this summer.
It's for two people. One bedroom upstairs with a king size bed, and a shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep.
You get the place to yourselves, but outside there's a big shared lawn out the front that you're welcome to use. Behind that, there's about seven acres of our land, woodland and meadows, that you and the dogs can walk in. We do allow dogs, up to three. We just ask that they don't go upstairs or on the furniture.
Inside, it's all open plan downstairs. Kitchen, dining table, and a sofa facing the TV. It's straightforward. There's a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside.
Location wise, you're about six miles from the coast. Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Whitby are all within a fifteen to twenty minute drive. The North York Moors are right on the doorstep for walking. Five minutes down the road is Scaling Dam reservoir, where you can sometimes see people windsurfing or paddleboarding. There's a big pub there too, The Cleveland Inn, that does food.
If you fancy it, you can catch a steam train from places like Grosmont into Whitby. It's a nice way to see the moors when the heather is out.
