This is George Street One, in York. It's a first-floor apartment inside a listed Georgian townhouse, inside the city walls. The location is the main thing. You can walk to the Minster in about ten minutes.
It sleeps up to six, but it's two proper bedrooms and then a sofa bed in the lounge. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which feels about right. It's been done up to a high standard, everything's new and clean. It's not huge, but it's well designed and there's space for everyone.
The kitchen is separate from the living room, which is nice. There's a dining table that converts into a small pool table, which is a bit different. The main bedroom has a king size bed that can be split into two singles if you ask beforehand.
You're on a proper city street, so there can be some noise, especially during the day. The windows are good, but it's not out in the countryside. The stairs up to the apartment are the original ones, so they're fairly steep and a bit narrow.
Everything you need is on the doorstep. Shops, pubs, restaurants, all a minute's walk away. You really don't need the car once you're here. There's a parking space included, which is a big help in this part of town.
For a big day out, the North York Moors are about half an hour's drive. The coast at Filey or Scarborough is a similar distance. For planning visits in the city, the City of York Council site has good visitor information, and the English Heritage page for the city walls is useful.
Facilities: WiFi, dishwasher, all bedding and towels are included. No pets.
