The Hayloft is one of a few old farm buildings we've done up. It's about two miles out from York city centre, down a long private drive. You get fields all around and a proper courtyard garden to sit in.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bathroom is on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well equipped.
The conversion kept some of the original features, so the ceilings are high and the windows are big. It feels spacious. There's a games room in the outbuilding next door with a pool table. You share that with the other cottages.
The local pub is a couple of minutes walk up the lane. It's a proper village pub. A decent shop is about a mile away in the next village.
You're really well placed for York. It's a ten minute drive or you can get the bus from the end of the lane. You've got all the obvious things there: the Minster, the walls, the Jorvik Centre. The National Railway Museum is free and good even if you're not that into trains.
Within half an hour you can be at a few racecourses: York, Thirsk, or Wetherby. Castle Howard is about twenty minutes drive. The coast at Filey or Scarborough is about forty-five minutes, depending on traffic.
For the facilities: you've got the washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. There's parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can put a cot and highchair in for you if you need them. No pets, sorry.
If you're planning walks or days out, the York City Walls site has maps, and the North York Moors National Park site is useful for planning a trip to the moors.
